The Good Karma program started with a local family using only pots and pans to create a Sea Moss Protein Cube jam-packed with micronutrients. The idea was to provide Bali people with easy access to daily sea moss nutrition, while empowering the farmers. “Good for you, good for farmers” we said, and started to explore the potential of new market avenues for the farmers by innovation of new seaweed derived products.

The first product to be launched was the Good Karma Smoothie – a support program developed by some restaurants in Bali. Each restaurant created its signature smoothie recipe containing an ocean-fresh Sea Moss Protein Cube that they buy directly from the local seaweed farmers’ farm-to-table style. The Sea Moss Protein Cube contains three of the most protein-, and nutrient-rich seaweeds in the world plus some Moringa making it a nutrient bomb. The program started with the first 10 member restaurants who developed the concept and the local seaweed farming family of I Wayan “Dollar” was made 50% profit share holder in the business representing the seaweed farmers of Nusa Lembongan.

With the network of Bali restaurants growing, Good Karma set out to develop more products to make it even easier to access daily sea moss while empowering local farmers. With the partnering farming family of I Wayan Dollar reverting to the lucrative less labour intensive tourism sector as many other seaweed farmers on Lembongan 2024, Good Karma started a collaboration with the local seaweed cooperative. In 2025 the new product “Super Sea Moss Gummies” reached the first shelves of health shops in Bali. It was immediately well received by bio-hackers and fitness,- and health freaks. Super Sea Moss Gummies is perhaps the world’s first 100% natural superfood supplement absent of any artificial preservative, coloring, taste or texturing agents and still offers a 3 months expiration date.

2023 Good Karma was recognized by professor Jem Bendell as a “Future-proof” business – a business that can grow without causing any harm. Good Karma was also recognized and made a part of a global program for clean oceans. Oceans 2050 and the CEO of Oceans 2050 stepped into the Advisory Board of Good Karma. Oceans 2050’s global seaweed project acts as a foundation for Good Karma, a project that was awarded the Keeling Curve Prize in 2021 and led to a partnership with WWF to aid and encourage the growth of the seaweed industry. In collaboration with WWF, Oceans 2050 created a series of films to highlight stories about people and communities that benefit from seaweed farming that are very informative of the central role seaweed farming will play in the new regenerative Blue Economy.

Good Karma not only creates social impact, and better health, it is done sustainably with regenerative methods and contributing to carbon sequestration and clean oceans. This is why you see the Sea Moss Protein Cube as the symbol of our logo, honouring the start of a program and the aim of creating 360° positive impact.
