GK Seaweed Association

The GK Seaweed Association’s purpose is to engage and unify resources for positive impact for seaweed farmers in Indonesia. This is done through launching projects for innovation and commercialisation of Indonesian grown seaweed and development of Seaweed farming methodologies.

Examples of already launched and active projects:

  • Development and commercialisation of a Sea Moss program for Restaurants locally on Bali.
  • Development and Commercialisation of Superfood Sea Moss products.
  • Development of methods for cleaner and commercial viable dried sea moss.

Examples of initiated projects:

  • Seaweed Laboratory/nursery/hatchery for preservation and development of Seaweed species.
  • Green House for better dehydration of seaweed,
  • Connecting Indonesian Seaweed farming with the global Blue Carbon Credit market,
  • Commercialisation of Seaweed Bioplastics
  • Development of Nutritional Sea Moss Skin care products

Good Karma

Good Karma dedicates 2% of revenue to Impact Seaweed farmers in Indonesia in the most impactful way. 50% of the product revenues Good Karma product sales goes directly to the associated Seaweed farmers and the other 50% helps to finance the administration of GK Seaweed Association. Good Karma conducts market research to find out commercialisation potential and priorities for local seaweed farming. This research is shared with the Association through Good Karmas representatives.

Lembongan Seaweed Authorities

The Lembongan seaweed cooperative is a branch of the local municipality on the famous island of Lembongan, once the single largest plot of Seaweed farming in south east Asia. This organisation feeds the GK Association challenges and insights of seaweed farming in Indonesia. They also are one of the recipients and implementers of the projects initiated by GK Seaweed Association. This cooperative also shares recommendations of how the GK Seaweed association best can create impact for all Indonesia’s Seaweed farmers.
